Dear Black Girl

Dear black girl, 

You can and you will. 

One day the world will see you and it will all stand still. 

It will be difficult at times growing up black in America. 

But that doesn’t mean you won’t prevail. 

That doesn’t mean that you’ll fail. 

The woman you see on your screen paved a way for you. 

She broke a barrier that even for her was hard to get through. 

So don’t  ever give up. 

Because one day this could be you. 

I can’t wait to see the young woman you’ll bloom into.
